Having several windows at the same time is a feature which is very helpful in some cases, but in others is quite messy and may slow down our work.
For example we need to translate a document or we need to rewrite a text or whatever job that requires having 1 window to look at and another window to type in. We can split the screen to read from one and type in the other but this will make your work area much smaller. Another option is to have two or more monitors installed in the computer, but this is not available to everybody due to the expenses of a new monitor, a low end GPU which does not support two or more monitors or the lack of space in the desk we are working at.
A good solution to this are programs to stick a window always on top. When a window is always on top we can use other windows at the same time, but they won’t overlap the pinned window. This is specially useful if we are working with several sources at the same time and one document to type in. With this method we can switch from one source document to another without overlapping the document we are typing in so when we got the info we need, we can just type on it without having to look for it in the task bar.
There are several programs to do so, and most of them are freeware like for example Always on Top. This program is very easy to use and just by hitting a key combination we’ll pin the document we want and we will be able to use other documents while keeping the selected document on the top of all of them and by hitting another key combination it will be restored to its common state.
